Afika is a dancer from Johannesburg, South Africa, deeply influenced by the traditions of KwaZulu-Natal. He was crowned Mr. Indoni Cultural South Africa, reflecting his pride in his cultural roots. With expertise in Afrofusion, Contemporary, and Zulu dance, Afika creates a unique blend of styles. In 2023, he won Best Solo/Duet at the Istanbul International Culture Arts Festival and received rave reviews at the Yongdong South Korea International Dance Festival. Afika has performed under renowned choreographers such as Sylvia Glasser and Sunnyboy Motau, Robyn Orlin, & others, contributing to original productions including Baobab and Umthombo. He has toured Switzerland, Belgium and France with Robyn Orlin. His work combines tradition and innovation, accentuating Afrofusion as a technique. Afika will participate in a residency in Denmark with Marie Brolin-Tani and Melody Putu alongside the Holstebro Dance Company.
